Ingredients
4 cups milk
3 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 peppermint candy cane, crushed (add more for mintier taste)
4 peppermint candy canes for stirring sticks (optional)
Whipped cream for topping (optional)
Directions
In a saucepan, heat milk until hot, but not boiling. Whisk in the chocolate and the crushed peppermint candies until melted and smooth. Pour hot cocoa into four mugs, and garnish with whipped cream. Serve each with a candy cane stirring stick.
Tips- You can also use instant hot cocoa and prepare it according to the instructions using milk instead of water. Mint extract can be used in place of candy canes or try adding Creme de Menthe liqueur for a grown up version!
